In brief: Paraguay’s inflation accelerates in July

* Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has released its latest figures for the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which show that monthly inflation reached 1.2% in July. This brings annual inflation in the 12 months to July to 5.2%, up from 4.5% in June; and compares to 1.1% annual inflation in July 2020. The BCP notes that price increases in the food and fuel categories are driving inflation. The BCP’s inflation target stands at 4%.
