NICARAGUA: Opposition refuses to participate in election
On 14 July Héctor Mairena, the spokesperson for Nicaraguan opposition party Unión Democrática Renovadora (Unamos), slammed the 7 November general election in which President Daniel Ortega is seeking another term for the ruling Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional (FSLN) as a “farce” and said Unamos would not participate.
