Publio de Gracia, the director of Panama’s tax authority (DGI), has announced that Panama’s tax take in the year up to June totalled US$2.76bn, up 31.8% on the amount budgeted for the period and up 23.7% on the amount registered in the same period in 2020. De Gracia said that the figures showed that economic activities were showing signs of improvement following the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. such as a general tax amnesty which, in April, President
Laurentino Cortizo extended until 31 August.
