PERU: Both candidates hit by illegal financing allegations

Corruption allegations have hit both candidates in the disputed second round of Peru’s presidential election. Pedro Castillo, the candidate for the far-left Perú Libre (PL) and the election’s unofficial victor as things stand, took the first blow, with 20 PL members charged with illegal campaign financing. Two days later it was the turn of Keiko Fujimori, the candidate for the right-wing Fuerza Popular (FP), who faces an investigation into alleged money laundering linked to her election campaign.
