PARAGUAY: Dealing with insecurity

Despite being on the international drug trafficking route and suffering from persistent and high corruption levels, Paraguay is a relatively safe country, particularly if measured by its homicide rate. Nevertheless, a generalised sense of insecurity has been growing in the landlocked South American country, as recently acknowledged by members of President Mario Abdo Benítez’s government.
