The decision by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to send a formal note of protest to the US government for alleged unwarranted interference in Mexico’s sovereign affairs is not the only potential source of bilateral tensions. Trade unions from the US and Mexico have filed a formal complaint against Mexico over the alleged violation of workers’ rights regulations enshrined in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
