In brief: Argentina to build new port terminal on Paraguay-Paraná waterway

* The Argentine government has announced that it will allocate resources necessary to holding a tender for the construction of a cargo terminal on the Paraguay River within the next 90 days. The construction of a cargo terminal on the Paraguay-Paraná waterway at Puerto Las Palmas, Chaco province, will require an investment of some Ar$500m (US$5.3m) and will have the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the government has said. The announcement was made during the inauguration by President Alberto Fernández of a new aqueduct, ‘El Impenetrable’, in the Chaco province, which will provide drinking water to five municipalities and their dispersed population.
