José Daniel Ferrer, the leader of Cuban dissident group Unión Patriótica de Cuba (Unpacu), has claimed victory after he and a group of activists called off a hunger strike demanding an end to repression by the Cuban state. The decision to end the strike after 21 days followed an apparent climbdown by the government led by President Miguel Díaz-Canel under mounting foreign pressure.
