ARGENTINA: Giving up on the Lima Group

Argentina was one of the 12 Western Hemisphere countries that signed the declaration establishing the Lima Group in August 2017, a regional effort to help resolve the political deadlock and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. Over three years later, Argentina formally withdrew from the group on 24 March, raising questions over the future of multilateral efforts to help Venezuela, as well as over the direction of Argentina’s foreign policy under President Alberto Fernández.
