BRAZIL: Supreme court split over Covid-19 restrictions

On 5 April, a judge in Brazil’s supreme court (STF), Gilmar Mendes, maintained a decree issued by the state government of São Paulo which bans religious celebrations as part of its restrictions against the coronavirus (Covid-19), going against a ruling issued two days earlier by fellow STF justice, Kássio Nunes Marques.
