* Monterrey-based business lobby Cámara de la Industria de la Transformación (Caintra) de Nuevo León has said that Mexico’s export sector could drive economic growth this year. A Caintra statement circulated in the local press highlights that exports of manufactured goods increased 4.9% in January compared with the same month in 2020 – a trend it attributes to the growth dynamic in the US which registered 4.1% GDP growth in the last quarter of 2020 compared with the previous quarter. The same statement adds that with the accelerated vaccination process in the US and drop in unemployment, this impact on Mexico’s exports could well last the whole year.
