The vaccine is not an economic silver bullet

The Brazilian economy is set to recover this year. One reason for optimism is that a vaccination programme may begin to roll back the ravages of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The upside is that new vaccines are becoming available and an inoculation plan finally launched in mid-January. In practice, however, there are fears that the programme could go badly wrong, compromising the hoped-for recovery.
