* Alejandro Ramírez, the head of Consejo Mexicano de Negocios (CMN), a Mexican private sector lobby, has called for the recently reached bilateral agreement between Mexico and the US on new terms of the North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta) to include Canada. Ramírez said that Canada’s participation was “fundamental for a competitive North America” and that while the agreement reached on 27 August by the US and Mexico was “positive” it was necessary to know Canada’s decision. His remarks come ahead of the 31 August deadline set by US President Donald Trump for the three countries to reach an in-principle agreement.
