Peru: Peru’s naitonal executive has sent down to the legislature its draft budget for fiscal year 2019 for PEN168.407bn (US$51.14bn), up 6.95% on the previous year. Announcing the budget proposal President Martín Vizcarra highlighted efforts to strengthen decentralisation, noting efforts for “4% or 5% of resources” to be assigned directly to regions and municipalities. Under the proposed budget, PEN118.29bn would go to the national government, while regional governments would receive PEN29.85bn, and local governments PEN19.93bn. Congress will begin debating the proposed budget – which must be approved by a simple majority – on 15 November.
