El Salvador: Remittances to El Salvador reached US$3.15bn in the first seven months of 2018, up 9.5% on the same period in 2017. In July alone, the country received US$464m in remittances, up 10.3% on the same month in 2017. The US accounts for most of remittances sent (93.4%) followed by the European Union (0.9%) and Canada (0.9%). As regards other countries in Central America, Guatemala received US$5.2bn in remittances in the first half of 2018 (up 10.6% on the same period the previous) and Honduras US$2.87bn (up 9%).
