*According to the latest figures from Brazil’s coffee exporters’ association (Cecafé), the country exported 2.3m sacks (one sack = 60 kilos) of coffee in July, up 24.2% on the same month in 2017. In value terms these exports represented US$337.2m, up 10.8% on the same month in 2017, demonstrating the drop in the price of coffee. In the first six months of 2018, Brazil’s coffee exports totalled 16.9m sacks, a 0.3% decline on the same period in 2017 while in value terms this totalled US$2.6bn, down 10.9%.
