Bolivia: According to a report published by Bolivia’s national statistics institute (INE), in the final quarter of 2017 the country registered an urban unemployment rate of 4.5%, the lowest rate in the region during this period. The region is defined in the report as including Colombia, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, and Ecuador. INE director Santiago Farjat stated that the data demonstrated that “the efforts that the state is carrying out for labour insertion are providing results”. However, according to the Planning Minister Mariana Prado Noya, who spoke in a television interview about the report, Bolivia’s unemployment rate is 7.2% among the population aged between 18-35.
