* Brazil’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras, has signed a preliminary agreement with French companies Total and Total Eren to work on developing solar- and wind-energy projects in Brazil. The non-binding agreement is part of the 'strategic alliance' signed by the companies in February 2017 and is part of the move towards a “low-carbon matrix” at Petrobras. The Brazilian company currently has four windfarms with a combined capacity of 104MW, as well as a solar-energy research facility in Rio Grande do Norte state. Petrobras is currently undergoing a restructuring programme following the crisis caused by its involvement in a massive corruption scandal.
