*Brazil’s President Michel Temer said that he hoped to advance greater economic openness and to introduce a “digital agenda” to set the foundations for intra-bloc electronic commerce (e-commerce) at the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) heads of state summit due to take place on 18 June. Speaking before leaving for Asunción, Paraguay, to attend a the LII Mercosur heads of state summit, President Temer said that Brazil’s main proposal would be to advance a new regional e-commerce framework that would allow for the adoption of common Mercosur regulations on this sector. Temer added that the establishment of a new Mercosur e-commerce framework would help to further liberalise trade within the bloc.
