* In one of the first polls published since the recent fuel strikes in Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, the ultra-right presidential hopeful from the Partido Liberal Social (PSL), pulled away as the clear frontrunner. In a survey by local news site Poder360, Bolsonaro has 25% of voting intentions and is flanked by Ciro Gomes of the left-wing Partido Democrática Trabalhista (PDT) with 12%. In third place is Fernando Haddad from the leftist Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) with 8% of voting intentions, just ahead of Geraldo Alckmin from the centre-right Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira (PSDB) with 7%. However, the biggest winner of all in the latest poll was the number of blank and spoilt votes at 28%, pointing to widespread disillusionment with Brazil’s political class.
