* Brazil’s unemployment rate rose to 13.1% in the first quarter of 2018, up 1.3 percentage points from the previous quarter, ending in December 2017. During that time over 1.5m jobs were lost. The results mark a setback for President Michel Temer, who promised to kickstart job creation through the government’s labour reform which came into effect in November 2017.
