Chile: Thousands of people have taken to the streets in Chile’s main cities in protests called by the 'No+AFP' protest movement. They are demanding an end to the mixed public-private national pension system administrated by private pension funds (AFPs) which was introduced under the dictatorship led by General Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990). With a turnout of 150,000 nationwide, on estimates by No+AFP, these are the first protests to take place under the new right-of-centre Chile Vamos coalition government led by President Sebastián Piñera which took office last month.
