LatinNews Regional Monitor: Brazil & Southern Cone - 13 April 2018

In brief: Argentina

* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has reported that monthly inflation in March was 2.3% and that the cumulative inflation for the first quarter was 6.7%. This means that the inflation rate is currently running at around 42% of the central bank’s target of 15% for the year, which is now likely to be missed. An Indec report attributed the higher rate of inflation to a fall in the value of the Argentine peso against the US dollar and increased public transport fares.
