Antigua & Barbuda: The Antigua Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has increased its majority in parliament with a landslide victory in the 21 March general election. The election was called more than a year before constitutionally required by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, and the gamble has paid off handsomely. In the 2014 general election the ABLP won 14 seats to three, bringing an end to two terms of government by the United Progressive Party (UPP). On this occasion, the UPP ended up with just one seat, with another going to the breakaway Democratic National Alliance (DNA) led by UPP-expellee Joanne Massiah. The ABLP now holds 15 seats in the 17-seat assembly. Both Massiah and the UPP leader Harold Lovell lost their seats.
