* Brazil and Panama have discussed the possibility of taking each other off their respective blacklists for tax avoidance. Thinking of Panama as a 'tax haven' is a “thing of the past,” said Panama's Vice President Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado, after a meeting with Brazil’s foreign minister, Aloysio Nunes, at the World Economic Forum on Latin America, currently being held in São Paulo, Brazil. De Saint Malo said that Panama has moved to strengthen its financial regulations in line with international recommendations since the 'Panama Papers' leak two years ago. For his part, Nunes asked for Panama to take Brazil off its own blacklist in exchange.
