* There are concerns that Brazil could suffer further credit downgrades if it does not respect the so-called 'fiscal golden rule'. This stipulates that new debt cannot not be issued by the government to finance current expenditures and should only be used for investment. But, in recent weeks, President Michel Temer’s economic advisors have discussed amending the 'golden rule' in congress so they can meet their spending targets for 2018.
