*Brazil’s consumer price index (IPCA) closed 2017 at an accumulated annual rate of 2.95% – its lowest level since 1998. This is below the government’s inflation target of 3%. In December 2017, consumer prices rose by 0.44%, marking the biggest monthly increase in the whole of 2017.
