In brief: Brazil

*Brazil's industry & trade ministry (MDIC) reported that the country registered a positive trade surplus of US$67bn in 2017. This is the best result recorded in the past 29 years. Exports grew by 18.5% in 2017 from the previous year to US$217.74bn, with China being the largest importer of Brazilian goods, followed by the US and Argentina. Imports to Brazil also increased for the first time in three years, signalling that the domestic economy has improved.
