ARGENTINA: Fernández leaves comfort zone in electoral quest
Argentines were treated to an unusual event on 14 September: a televised interview with former president Cristina Fernández (2007-2015), who is running for a seat in the federal senate representing the province of Buenos Aires in mid-term elections on 22 October. Fernández gave very few interviews during her two terms in power. The fact that she granted one now is suggestive of the need to reach beyond her support base, as is her frequent recourse to social media, with just one month to go before the elections.
