In brief: Argentina

Argentina: The national statistics institute (Indec) has released its latest economic figures, which show that economic activity increased by 3.3% in May compared with the same month last year. The latest Indec figures come as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) issued a statement noting that “after disappointing growth over the past few years, economic activity in Latin America remains on track to recover gradually in 2017–2018 as recessions in a few countries – notably Argentina and Brazil – are coming to an end”. The IMF also revised up its 2017 GDP growth forecast for Argentina from 2.2% to 2.4%.
