Bolivia/Chile: Bolivia’s foreign minister, Fernando Huanacuni, has announced that Bolivia and Chile have adopted the agenda for the bilateral border committee meeting due to take place on 25 July in the Bolivian department of Santa Cruz. The setting of the bilateral border meeting comes after the recent arrest and release of two Chilean Carabineros (military police) officers by the Bolivian authorities, who accused them of illegally entering Bolivian territory, and the arrest in mid-March by the Chilean authorities of of nine Bolivian government officials, who were subsequently charged with smuggling, theft with intimidation, and illegal possession of weapons.
