In brief: Brazil

* The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said Brazil is close to exiting recession but that the political crisis is a major risk for the economy. The IMF improved Brazil’s GDP growth forecast for 2017 from 0.2% to 0.3% but reduced the outlook for 2018 from 1.7% to 1.3%.
