Bolivia: A shoot-out which took place during the robbery of a jewellery store in Santa Cruz, the capital of the eponymous eastern department, has left five people dead and at least nine people injured. Those killed include three of the four assailants, believed to be members of a Brazilian criminal gang, Primer Comando de la Capital (PCC); a police lieutenant, Carlos Gutiérrez Valenzuela; and the store’s general manager, Lorena Tórrez. Bolivian state news agency, ABI, described the robbery as the most violent of the past 50 years.
