HAITI: UN faces renewed criticism over cholera

Last month United Nations (UN) Secretary General António Guterres appointed Josette Sheeran, the president and CEO of Asia Society, a non-profit organization, as the UN Special Envoy to Haiti. The move comes as the UN, which in December 2016 was forced to admit responsibility for the October 2010 cholera outbreak introduced by UN peacekeepers, is facing renewed criticism over its failure to make good key pledges to address the spread of the disease which has so far killed over 10,000 Haitians.
