Mexico’s social security institute (IMSS) has released employment figures which show that 19,134,058 formal jobs were created in the first half of 2017, up 17.1% compared with the same period last year. The figures bring the total number of formal jobs created under the administration led by President Enrique Peña Nieto to 2,839,122, more than twice as many jobs as were created under the administration of his predecessor Felipe Calderón (2006-2012).
