Chile: On 30 June, the US Navy announced that the Naval Forces Southern Command/US 4th Fleet would participate in Teamwork South 2017 (TWS-17) off the coast of Chile starting on 1 July. TWS-17 is a bi-annual Chilean naval exercise that focuses on conducting training scenarios in different warfare operations. A press release by the US Navy notes that this year's exercise will be commanded by Chilean Rear Admiral Ignacio Mardones Costa, while US forces participating will be commanded by Commander, US Naval Forces Southern Command/ US 4th Fleet, Rear Admiral Sean Buck, and include USS Chafee (DDG 90) with two embarked MH-60R helicopters from HSM-37, a fast attack submarine, two P-8A Orion aircraft, and staff personnel from USNAVSO/FOURTHFLT, Destroyer Squadron 40 and Combined Task Force 46.
