Colombia: The chief observer in the United Nations (UN) mission in Colombia, Javier Pérez Aquino, said in a press conference that the UN had gathered information on the location of 660 arms caches, hidden by the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) guerrillas. Plans to recover and process the contents of 456 of these caches have been completed, and as of 7 July, 94 of these had been successfully dealt with and verified by international observers. Moreover, 321 firearms had been recovered, and a further nine tonnes of explosives, 1,189 hand grenades, 329 mines, and 243 mortar shells destroyed.
