In brief: Mexico

* China’s ambassador to Mexico, Qiu Xiaoqi, has said that the Chinese government aims to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Mexico in order to strengthen bilateral trade, which last year reached US$43bn. Speaking at a press conference in Mexico City, the ambassador said that China considers its relations with Mexico, its second largest trading partner in Latin America, to be “very important” and that is why there is an interest in expanding and deepening trade relations.
