Peru’s prime minister Fernando Zavala has agreed to take on an additional role as finance minister after the previous incumbent, Alfredo Thorne, was forced out by Peru’s unicameral congress. Thorne’s unexpected departure exposes the weakness of the ruling administration under President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski as legislators, nicknamed “the lions”, close in on his cabinet.
