Paraguay: President Horacio Cartes has formally inaugurated a new US$14m electricity substation of the state-owned electricity firm, Ande, in the city of Fernando de la Mora, Central department. Cartes said that the new substation and its underground transmission line linking it to the nearby city of San Lorenzo, also in Central department, will benefit 85,000 electricity consumers and ensure that these don’t have to suffer any more power blackouts during peak consumption periods. This is the first Ande electricity substation to be built since 2005.
