Uruguay: The Partido Comunista del Uruguay (PCU) party, a member of the ruling leftist Frente Amplio (FA) coalition, has elected Juan Castillo as its new secretary general. Following his election it is expected that Castillo will now tender his resignation from his current post as the head of the national labour directorate (Dinatra) in order to avoid any potential accusations of conflict of interests.
