Bolivia: Four officials from Bolivia’s state-owned oil firm, Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), have been arrested for alleged corruption in relation to the case involving irregularities in the purchase of three drilling machines from Italian firm Drillmec SpA. Those arrested include the vice-president of the administrative unit for contracts, Bismarck Serrano Parada; the head of corporative drilling, Favid Pérez Alba; and lawyers from the YPFB legal unit, Félix Bustos Martin and Gizel Siles Roca. So far 16 others have been charged with corruption in relation to the case – 15 YPFB officials, including the firm’s vice-president, Jorge Soza, all of whom were fired on 19 April, and one Drillmec employee.
