* The federal environmental protection agency (Profepa) has fined German auto maker BMW M$1.85m (US$99,227) for the sale of motorcycles that had not been given an environmental certification by the local authorities. Profepa said that it found that 816 motorcycles sold by BMW in Mexico in 2015 never received the adequate certification and were later found to be in breach of air pollution emission and engine noise restrictions. This is the second time that Profepa has issued such a fine to a foreign auto manufacturer, after it fined South Korean manufacturer Hyundai M$1.5m (US$80,558) in May for the sale of 117 cars that lacked environmental certification.
