In brief: Bolivia, Peru, Colombia

Bolivia: The government led by President Evo Morales has filed a complaint before the Chilean consul in La Paz, Manuel Hinojosa, after the Chilean government refused to authorise visas in recent weeks to five top Bolivian officials, including Justice & Institutional Transparency Minister Héctor Arce Zaconeta and Defence Minister Reymi Ferreira. They were seeking entry into the Chile to meet with the nine Bolivian officials imprisoned on a preventative basis by Chilean authorities since 22 March. The Chilean government accuses the Bolivian officials of attempting to steal a truck carrying contraband inside Chilean territory, 400m from the border. The Bolivian government maintains that while the officials were close to the border, they had seized the truck carrying contraband in Bolivian territory.
