COLOMBIA | Favourable economic outlook. On 9 May, during the swearing-in ceremony of Griselda Janeth Restrepo as his new labour minister, President Juan Manuel Santos highlighted the constant growth of Colombia’s domestic economy as a source of optimism for the country. Santos said that despite the adverse effects of a fall in international oil prices and the ‘El Niño’ climatic phenomenon on the domestic economy, this has continued to grow and create jobs, while helping to reduce poverty.
