PERU: Fujimori object of ‘ping pong’

Kenji Fujimori has called on Peru’s political parties not to play ‘ping pong’ with the life of his father, the disgraced former president Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000). It is back to politics-as-usual in Peru, after the recent flooding crisis temporarily obliged the political class to work in the national interest, rather than for narrow vested motives. After a stumbling start, the government led by President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski appeared to find its mojo during the crisis and now is enjoying renewed popular support. A return to the nitty gritty of congressional politics will be a test of its resilience.
