The communications & transport ministry (SCT) has revealed that it has asked the Mexican subsidiary of OHL, a Spanish construction firm, to confirm that it did not transfer any money to irregularly finance electoral campaigns in Mexico. OHL is currently under investigation for corruption in Mexico over allegations that the firm paid bribes to secure lucrative state construction contracts since 2011. But there are new allegations that OHL irregularly financed electoral campaigns of members of the federally ruling Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) party.
