Argentina: The agro-industrial ministry has announced that Brazil’s agriculture & livestock ministry (Mapa) has issued a final resolution lifting all restrictions on imports of Argentine citrus fruit into Brazil, with immediate effect. Mapa imposed restrictions on Argentine citrus imports in 2009 amid an outbreak of citrus canker in Argentina, and the authorities in the latter have been trying to lift the restrictions ever since. Argentina’s agro-industry ministry noted that in 2016 Brazil imported 29,440 tonnes of citrus fruits and that Argentine produces will once again have unfettered access to this market.
