The federal energy ministry (Sener) has presented the bases for the third public tender for long-term electricity provision contracts. The tender is part of the government’s flagship 2013-2014 energy sector reform that seeks to open up Mexico’s energy sector to increased private sector competition. Sener said that the new tender offers 15-20 year electricity provision contracts that include incentives for firms to invest in the development of new electricity producing infrastructure.
