Federal judge Sérgio Moro has asked former president Lula da Silva (2003-2011) to urge demonstrators to keep out of the court in the city of Curitiba, Paraná state, where his trial is due to start this week. Moro’s move came after the landless farmer’s organisation, Movimento Sem Terra (MST), called for a strike in Curitiba for 10 May to coincide with Lula’s first hearing in the court.
